Brief Bio's for 2009 - 2010 Western Buckeye coaches.
Please note that the following information is just a brief summary of playing and coaching experience for the staff. These bios are meant to give you an overview of their volleyball coaching and playing experience. Please note that all coaches within our club have experience coaching Junior Olympic volleyball teams as well as coaching experience as head coaches during the scholastic season – this experience is something we are very proud of
CLUB DIRECTOR AND COACH:
Kevin Sedensky is the Director of Western Buckeye Volleyball Club and also is the current Head Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Springboro High School. Other volleyball coaching experience includes multiple years coaching at Springboro Junior High at the 8th grade level as well as previous experience coaching for Western Buckeye with 13’s, 14’s and 15’s teams. Kevin has been playing volleyball in the Dayton area for the past 19 years.
CLUB CONSULTANT (and past director of Western Buckeye)
Jill (Leedy) Brumbaugh played on the first Western Buckeye Volleyball Team back in 1992 when the club was first established. Jill was a member of this club for 8 years. Jill pursued her dream of playing collegiate volleyball and was a 4-year letter winner at the University of Findlay. While in college, Jill, coached J.O. for Premier Volleyball Academy, one of the largest clubs in the nation. Upon receiving her degree in Middle Childhood Education Jill moved back to the area to receive her Master’s degree from Miami University and soon became active with Western Buckeye. In 2004 she became the director of the club. Jill has coached all age levels of J.O. volleyball ranging from 10’s to18’s. Jill is currently a 6th grade teacher and the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach for Springboro Community Schools and now acts as a consultant for Western Buckeye.
Dawn (Campbell) Leach returns to coach for her third season with Western Buckeye. She had a very successful season coaching a 16’s team for our club last season. Dawn started playing volleyball in middle school and continued on throughout high school. She ended up being voted Team Captain her senior year. Dawn also played JO volleyball during her time in high school. After graduating from
Erica Davis is returning for her second season with Western Buckeye as a head coach. Additionally, Erica has coached in the JO system as a coach for Matchpoint volleyball club and is the current Reserve Head Coach at Clinton Massie High School. Erica started playing volleyball in Junior High School and completed her scholastic career at Clinton Massie. She also played JO volleyball for 5 years with Greene County Volleyball Club. Following her high school career, she played for two years at Southern State Community College before transferring to and playing volleyball for Wilmington College. We are glad to have Erica continue with Western Buckeye.
Elizabeth (Betsy) Pratt is returning for her second season with Western Buckeye as a head coach. In addition to her coaching experience with Western Buckeye, Betsy has also been the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Wilmington High School. Betsy played junior high and high school volleyball in the Wilmington School District. After graduating from high school, Betsy continued her playing career at
Jennifer Polley is returning for her second season of coaching with Western Buckeye. In addition to her being an assistant coach with Western Buckeye last season, Jennifer has also served as the Head Junior Varsity Volleyball coach for the past two seasons at Stivers High School. Additionally, she has a long term relationship with Western Buckeye, as her daughter has been a player in our club for the past few seasons. We are excited to have Jennifer as one of our head coaches for the upcoming season.
New to our club coaching staff this season is Jerrica Dabe. We are fortunate to have found someone with the coaching and playing experience that Jerrica possesses. She has been a Head Coach with Matchpoint volleyball club the past two seasons, coaching 15’s and 16’s. She also has prior experience head coaching at the Junior High level for Clinton Massie. Additionally, besides her junior high and high school playing days, Jerrica played in collegiately at Southern State Community College where she is the career leader in kills and second overall on blocking. We are excited to have Jerrica as a new addition to our staff!
** It is expected that Kevin and Jennifer will coach teams in the 13 – 14 year old age range. Jerrica, Dawn, Betsy, and Erica are expected to coach the High School age teams. Players who receive offers from Western Buckeye will be notified at the time of the offer who will be coaching their individual team.
