Tournament Results from Feb. 18-19th
Our 14's team saw their first tournament action this last weekend in Columbus in the President's Cup tournament and Coach Saylor's 16's team saw their second day of action!
Below are updates from Coach Kevin and Coach Saylor on how their tournaments went!
Coach Kevin:
Our 14's team competed in the 2-day President's Cup tournament at the Columbus Convention Center. The tournament draws some of the top teams not only in our region, but from as far away as Canada. The format makes for 2 long days: they started at noon on Saturday and did not finish until 11pm. Then they returned on Sunday at 12:30 and did not leave until after 9:30pm. The team struggled early on losing their first 3 matches, 2 of them in 3 sets. They fought back and won their next 2 in pool play to win their way into the Silver bracket. They then ran off 3 straight in tournament play (a 5 match win streak) to end up as Silver bracket Champions! Their coaches were all proud of the determination the team showed to fight back after a tough start on Saturday. Winning the Silver Championship was a total team effort as all team members made key contributions at some point during the weekend. 9th place in a 24-team tournament is a great result, especially after the tough start. Way to go Bombers!!!
